PROCESS, ITERATION, LAYERING

(con)centricity evokes the growth of tree rings building upon each other, and the spirit of conversion from the intangible - traces - to the real. We are inviting each other to build upon one another, and to build on the work that has come before us.

 

The 3rd Annual Engineering Art Show at the University of Alberta, (con)centricity, builds upon this theme: as our personal experiences are unique, so too are our perspectives and attitudes towards art. Each of us has taken a very different journey to arrive at where we currently stand. Yet for all these differences we find ourselves arranged around a common centre - a central idea. Like the growth of the rings of a tree, this organic process (of connecting, layering and growing) results in a community that is strong because it is diverse and flexible in its mutual support.
